i saw a documentery, which was about savant.

A definition of savant is a person who is less intelligent than others but who has a

prticular, unusual ability. The ratio is one in ten thousand. Howerver, savants are just idiots,

because they emulate others' achievement, they are incompetant when it comes to living

individually and they are nt able to perceiv their environment abstractly.

First, they play every piano score but donot create it. To wit, a musical savant, 26, Decre

(name), can hear 10 notes simultaneously and then play exactly the same notes. Also, he has

memorized over one hundred piano scores and plays different versions of them such as Russian

or Turkish style. On the other hand, he cannot explain how to do it, even though he cannot count

the notes. They are 'living- i pods' and play recorded music.

Second, they are incapable of living their basic lives alone. Savants usually have autistism.

Their mental age is around 7 years old. Therein, they need a gaurdian throught life. In spite of

their gift, they are not able to pursue their individual lives.

Last but not least, savants are unable to perceive their environment abstractly due to

their lower intelligence. As a result, they admit uncritically what they see and hear and rely on

their instincts. Also, the lack of speculativeness creates isolation and separation from

society. Moreover, despite a music is a way to express their feelings as a musical

dialogue, as they cannot show off their creativity in music, their identification and purpose in

musical realm cannot be conveyed to the world.

In conclusion, savants have a definite special talent. however, they have instinctive lives

and have incomplementary relationships with society. But if they are educated intensively for

creativity, their influence in the arts will be great.

Hi Jimmy,
That was an interesting journal. I have never thought much about the idea of a savant. The dictionary defines it as 'someone of great learning', so the film certainly takes the meaning to a new level of definition. I'd be interested to find out why they discuss it in this way.
See you Monday.
